BUCKELEW FARM PUMPKIN FESTIVAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES 2011

JOB FAIR AT BUCKELEW FARM

Job interviews and actor auditions will be held at Buckelew Farm on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 1:00pm. All interested parties (except wheel barrow positions) must attend this meeting and bring two (2) forms of identification and at least one must be a photo ID (click here for a list of acceptable documents). Job positions cannot be offered if IDs are not available at the time of the interview/audition. All applicants are subject to background checks. If applying for Terror In The Corn or Security positions, please review the Employee Handbook located at the end of this section, prior to the job fair.

DAY TIME POSITIONS

Set-Up Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)

Dates: 9/24 & 9/25, 10/1 & 10/2
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Job Duties: general labor, hauling equipment, erecting tents, building fence, highway cleanup, housekeeping, decorating, staging haunted props, knowledge of handyman and construction type tasks, etc.
Requirements: must be physically fit and have no activity restrictions.
Pay Rate: starting at $7.25 per hour.

School Field Trips – Week Days (Mondays thru Fridays)

Dates: 10/14, 10/17 thru 10/21 and 10/24 thru 10/28 and Halloween Day 10/31
Hours: 9:00am – 12:00noon

Truck Drivers & Wagon Monitors

Job Duties: We use tractor-drawn wagons to take our customers to and
from the pumpkin patch. We need tractor drivers and wagon monitors.
Requirements: Tractor drivers must have a current driver’s license and experience
driving tractors, buses and/or trucks. Wagon monitors must be friendly, get along
with children and adults and be good communicators using a PA system.
Pay Rate: ranging from $8.00 to $10.00 per hour. Interview required.

Pumpkin Festival – Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)

Dates: 10/8 & 10/9, 10/15 & 10/16, 10/22 & 10/23, 10/29 & 10/30
Hours: 10:00am – 5:00pm

Parking, Game Hosts, Dining Tent Attendants & Custodians

Job Duties: a variety of positions are available, including parking cars, hosting
games/activities, dining tent attendants and custodians.
Requirements: must be friendly, outgoing and 14 years of age.
Pay Rate: starting at $7.25 per hour. Interview required.


Wheel Barrowers

Job Duties: using wheel barrels to assist customers in the transport of their pumpkins to the weigh tent and then to their cars.
Requirements: looking for kids who are friendly, outgoing, and strong enough to transport wheel barrels full of pumpkins throughout the day. Must be at least 12 years of age.
Pay Rate: work for tips; no wage is paid but customers are generally very generous tippers! The majority of our employees with paid positions started out pushing wheel barrels. Interview is not required.

 

NIGHT TIME POSITIONS

Corn Maze – Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights

Dates: 10/6 (dress rehearsal), 10/7 & 10/8, 10/14 & 10/15, 10/21 & 10/22, 10/28 & 10/29.

Special Events: Thursdays 10/13 & 10/27 for College Nights Out.

Hours: on Thursdays and Fridays 6:00pm - 12:00 midnight, on Saturdays 5;00pm - 12:00 midnight. Must be able to attend “all” scheduled activities.
Job Duties: “corn cops” supervise in the Corn Maze to assist customers who may be lost
or have questions and to ensure that the maze rules are followed.
Requirements: must be physically fit and able to walk Corn Maze trails throughout the
night, courteous but not afraid to enforce the rules and at least 18 years of age.
Pay Rate: starting at $9.00 per hour. Auditions required.

Terror In The Corn (Haunted Cornfield) – Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights

Actors & Prop Activators

Dates: 10/2 & 10/6 (dress rehearsals), 10/7 & 10/8, 10/14 & 10/15, 10/21 & 10/22,
10/28 & 10/29.

Special Events: Thursdays 10/13 & 10/27 for College Nights Out.

Hours:on Thursdays and Fridays 6:00pm - 12:00 midnight, on Saturdays 5;00pm - 12:00 midnight. Must be able to attend “all” scheduled activities.
Job Duties: actors and prop activators need to be enthusiastic, energetic, outgoing, enjoy
scaring people and are not afraid of performing for strangers.
Requirements: must be physically fit and be able to stay on task for the duration of the performances. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Pay Rate: starting at $8.00 per hour, plus bonuses for perfect attendance and hard work.
Our best actors are having fun and getting paid for it! Auditions required.

Security Personnel – Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights

Dates: 10/6 (dress rehearsal), 10/7 & 10/8, 10/14 & 10/15, 10/21 & 10/22, 10/28 & 10/29.

Special Events:Thursdays 10/13 & 10/27 for College Nights Out.

Hours: dark (6:30’ishpm) to 12:00midnight. Must be able to attend dress rehearsals and "all"
performances.
Job Duties: must be able to maintain order, follow farm protocols and remove a customer
quietly and discretely in the event that they are not following the rules or are
engaging in unsafe behavior.
Requirements: security, law enforcement and/or military experience is preferred.
Pay Rate: starting at $10.00 per hour. Interview required.
